A customer from the HR department of a company had the requirement to create a detailed and interactive organizational chart software. The aim was to visually display different KPIs for various departments and employees and to support them with corresponding icons for a clearer visualization. The challenge was to maintain an overview of all relevant KPIs and their development over time in order to make informed decisions about departmental and employee performance. A solution was needed that would enable a flexible and appealing presentation of such KPI data.

THE SOLUTION

Instead of implementing separate software for organizational charts, the team developed a solution directly in Qlik using the native organizational chart view. They created a "bill of materials" visualization that showed all item levels of a product and used color coding to indicate which items were on time or late. To more clearly display the desired KPIs, a Qlik extension was used that allows for the addition of icons and contextual information. By simply adding KPIs and icons, users could display and customize key metrics such as carbon footprint, financial details, and their development over time.

With this Qlik extension, users could flexibly and quickly insert and customize relevant KPIs and icons. The extension made it possible to display contextual data for better decision making and offers time-saving customization of data visualization through intuitive operation. This solution helped the company to meet the requirements for visually appealing and informative organizational charts directly in the existing Qlik environment without relying on external tools. As an added benefit, this extension is available to the Qlik community free of charge, allowing other companies to benefit from the solution.
